Hyderabad: Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy on Tuesday criticized BRS MLA T Harish Rao over his remarks on the Kaleshwaram project, particularly the condition of the Medigadda barrage, and questioned the claims regarding the utilisation of Godavari water. He said the BRS misrule resulted in the collapse of the Medigadda barrage.
In a short video, Kiran Kumar Reddy said Harish Rao would become angry whenever the issues of Kaleshwaram and Medigadda were raised. He questioned why the BRS government had failed to address the issue of water storage when the barrage was in use during its tenure.
The Congress MP asked how Godavari water could be utilised without storing it in reservoirs and questioned the need for constructing reservoirs if water could not be stored and used effectively.
He accused the BRS leaders of giving a misleading picture to the people of Telangana by claiming that water from the state was flowing away without being utilised. Kiran Kumar Reddy said the government was trying to utilise every drop of available water and blamed the previous BRS government for the problems surrounding the Kaleshwaram project and the Medigadda barrage.
