Kidney Racket Kingpin Held In Mumbai
Officials suspect he destroyed crucial records while evading arrest.

Hyderabad:The Telangana CID has reportedly taken into custody Dr Pawan Kalyan, a key accused in the illegal kidney transplant racket linked to a hospital in Saroornagar. He was arrested in Mumbai and is believed to have been brought to Hyderabad for questioning.
Dr Pawan had previously performed illegal kidney transplants at Alakananda Multi-Speciality Hospital and faces multiple cases, including one in Visakhapatnam, where he allegedly sent an associate to serve a prison sentence in his place. Officials suspect he destroyed crucial records while evading arrest.
Earlier, the CID had arrested 16 people connected to the racket. Victims were reportedly trafficked from Tamil Nadu to Hyderabad after being lured with false job offers. The accused earned up to `10 lakh per transplant, of which only 4–5 lakh was paid to the donor.
The case came to light after the DMHO of Rangareddy district lodged a complaint. It was handed over to the CID on April 24. CID officials are yet to officially confirm Dr Pawan’s arrest.
