Khammam Will Emerge as Top City in Country, Says Minister
He also said the cable bridge across the Munneru river should be completed by June 2026 and opened for public use

Nalgonda: Agriculture minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Friday expressed confidence that Khammam would emerge as one of the best cities in the country once the ongoing development and road works are completed.
Chairing a review meeting on development works at the Integrated District Offices Complex in Khammam, the minister said several major infrastructure projects under way in the city would transform its landscape and enhance its national profile. These include a ropeway at Khammam Fort, a synthetic track at the outdoor stadium, underground drainage works, Shilparamam, a cricket stadium, Young India integrated gurukul schools, a medical college building, a cable bridge across the Munneru river, a retaining wall along the Munneru, an integrated market, a Haritha Hotel, a TTD school, a Swaminarayan Gurukul school, and the Velugu Matla Urban Park.
He said the ropeway project at Khammam Fort is expected to be completed by December 2026, adding that five acres of land have already been allocated for the construction of Shilparamam in the city.
The minister informed that officials have been directed to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed cricket stadium, which would be developed on par with the best stadiums in the Telugu-speaking states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He also said the cable bridge across the Munneru river should be completed by June 2026 and opened for public use.
Rao opined that the Khammam–Devarapalli National Highway would be a game-changer for Telangana’s road network, improving connectivity between Khammam and other parts of southern India. He added that irrigation projects, including the Sitarama project, would significantly improve the economic status of the district.
