KGBV schools to ensure quality education for girls: Seethakka

Seethakka who herself studied in a government hostel, told students that true success lies not only in learning but also in sharing knowledge with others. She urged them to maintain cleanliness in and around their schools.

Warangal: Panchayat raj minister Seethakka said the state government has established special schools like Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas (KGBVs) to ensure that girls receive quality education and access to all necessary facilities, enabling every girl to pursue higher studies.

The minister, along with district collector T.S. Diwakar, inaugurated a new KGBV building with additional classrooms and science laboratories constructed at a cost of ₹2.3 crore at Madhava Rao Palli village in Mulugu district on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Seethakka said government schools are now providing education on par with private institutions. She noted that while women were once confined to kitchens due to outdated traditions, they are now excelling in every field. Citing the pioneering role of Savitribhai Phule, she explained that KGBVs were named after Kasturba Gandhi to highlight the importance of girls’ education.

The minister, who herself studied in a government hostel, told students that true success lies not only in learning but also in sharing knowledge with others. She urged them to maintain cleanliness in and around their schools.

Seethakka also challenged students and teachers to strive hard to ensure that Mulugu district secures the top position in the upcoming SSC Class 10 board examinations across the state.

Collector Diwakar said the construction was completed in record time under the minister’s directions and that the new building would address all classroom and laboratory requirements. He advised KGBV teachers to care for their students as they would their own children.
