KCR To Hit The Streets, Picks Kaleshwaram, Palamuru Projects To Take On Govt
BRS chief K. Chandrashekar Rao will lead protests against the Congress government over the alleged neglect of Kaleshwaram and Palamuru projects.
In a sign that might indicate that he has had enough of criticism from the Congress, BRS president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao on Sunday announced that he would lead movements against the Congress government’s neglect of the Kaleshwaram and Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation projects, after the Assembly session commencing on Monday.
Chandrashekar Rao, who has stayed away from the public eye for most part since the 2023 elections, announced his decision at a meeting of the BRS Legislature Party at his Erravalli farmhouse.
Briefing reporters on the meeting, BRS Assembly deputy floor leader T. Harish Rao said Chandrashekar Rao would lead the movements after the conclusion of the Monsoon Session of the Assembly to protest the government’s neglect of the Kaleshwaram barrages, and the failure of the government to complete the Palamuru-Rangareddy lift irrigation scheme.
Harish Rao said: “The Kaleshwaram project has water, but the government is not lifting it for farmers. The Palamuru-Rangareddy project, which was nearly 80 per cent completed during KCR’s government, is also being ignored. Completing the remaining works can help bring around 60 tmc ft of water to the region,” he said.
