KCR My Leader, Ready to Work with KTR: Harish

Harish Rao said that as a disciplined party worker, he would have no hesitation to work with anyone in the party, and that he would do so if Rama Rao became party president

Hyderabad: Is the BRS heading for a new leadership? This question picked up pace yet again with senior party leader T. Harish Rao, considered a confidant of party president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, on Tuesday saying that he would be happy to work with K.T. Rama Rao if he becomes the BRS head.

Harish Rao’s comment was in response to questions at a press meet on the reported goings-on in the party that have been rife on social media platforms over several weeks. Seeking to put to rest speculation about himself and his role in the party, Harish Rao declared: “I have said a hundred times, KCR is our party’s leader. And that I am a disciplined party worker who scrupulously follows his instructions. I will never cross the party line and KCR’s decisions.”

He said that as a disciplined party worker, he would have no hesitation to work with anyone in the party, and that he would do so if Rama Rao became party president. “My leader is KCR, whatever KCR says Harish Rao will follow,” he declared. He also added that BRS leaders had already lodged a complaint with the police on social media reports targeting him.

It may be recalled that on Monday, Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter and party MLC K. Kavitha had complained about a malicious campaign against her from within the party without a shred of evidence, and that she had toured close to 50 Assembly constituencies to strengthen the party. She had said that she would respond to the smear campaign against her at an appropriate time.

For long, especially after the BRS’ loss in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, speculation had been rife that Rama Rao, Harish Rao, and Kavitha were locked in a succession battle, something all three have repeatedly denied and vouched full and complete faith in Chandrashekar Rao’s leadership. They have stated that any talk of succession was nothing more than a campaign by other parties trying to sow divisions within the rank and file of the BRS.
