KCR Likely to Appear Privately Before Ghose Commission on June 5

The same process is expected to be followed on June 6 when BJP MP Etala Rajendar, former finance minister in the then BRS government, has been to appear before the commission and late on June 9, the date given to former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao.

Hyderabad: The June 5 appearance by former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao at the Justice P.C. Ghose commission of inquiry is likely to be a quiet affair. It is likely to be a one on one meeting, if Rao chooses to attend, sources said on Friday. It is not expected to be in an open court as was during cross examinations of various witnesses so far by the commission.

“Typically, this would be a one-on-one meeting with the commission and it may ask questions to the summoned person. Once that is done, then the person is asked to submit all that has been said in an affidavit form along with any documentary evidence to support his or her statements before the commission,”

“Only if the commission later deems fit to call that person for a cross examination based on the submitted affidavit will another notice to appear will be sent. And if this happens, only then there may be an open court event involving the former chief minister,” the source said.

“This was the process that has been followed so far and no change is expected in this format,” the source added.

The same process is expected to be followed on June 6 when BJP MP Etala Rajendar, former finance minister in the then BRS government, has been to appear before the commission and late on June 9, the date given to former irrigation minister T. Harish Rao.

There has been no official confirmation that Rao will attend the hearing on June 5. Sources said that there was no need for the person summoned to confirm his attendance on the given day. “It is expected that such a person will present himself or herself before the commission on the given date,” a source familiar with the process explained.

Meanwhile, Harish Rao on Friday met Chandrashekar Rao at his latter’s farm house in Erravalli village in Siddipet district. During the meeting lasting a few hours, he is learnt to have discussed Chandrashekar Rao’s expected visit to the commission’s office on June 5. The two leaders, who have met a few times already since the notices were issued to them, are learnt to have discussed various issues related to the Kaleshwaram project’s barrages, the possible issues that might be raised by Justice Ghose.
