Kavitha’s Letter Finds Fault with KCR’s Decisions
The letter questioned Chandrashekar Rao’s nominal references to the BJP in his April 27 BRS silver jubilee public meeting in Warangal and pointed out that this sent indications that the BRS was looking for a tie-up with the BJP in the coming days

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLC, and party president and former chief minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s daughter K. Kavitha has dropped a bombshell on the party doing what was believed to be unthinkable — pulling up Chandrashekar Rao for failures — and making it clear that the party founder was making mistakes.
A six-page handwritten letter purportedly written by Kavitha dated May 2 — addressed to Chandrashekar Rao and beginning with the word “Daddy” — made it clear that things were no longer hunky dory in the party, and there was increasing dissatisfaction at Chandrashekar Rao’s working style. There was no official reaction from Kavitha, or her office, on the authenticity of the letter, but her office also did not issue any comment denying that the letter was written by her.
The letter questioned Chandrashekar Rao’s nominal references to the BJP in his April 27 BRS silver jubilee public meeting in Warangal and pointed out that this sent indications that the BRS was looking for a tie-up with the BJP in the coming days. It further said that the decision to stay out of the MLC elections also sent a signal that the BRS’ decision was to help the BJP, with this line pushed strongly by the Congress.
“You spoke only for two minutes on the BJP and this resulted in widespread speculation if you are planning to enter into an alliance with the BJP in the future. Personally too, I wish you spoke more on the BJP, maybe because I had suffered. But you should have probably targeted the BJP more, daddy,” the letter said.
Party cadres, the letter said, are expressing the opinion that the BJP is emerging as the alternative in the state to Congress, especially when the Congress has lost faith among the people at the grassroot levels.
“Everyone had expected that you would give guidelines, or specific programmes to address this political scenario. At least now, we can hold a plenary for one or two days, hear as many opinions from cadres and give them a guideline. Do take this issue with some seriousness,” the letter said.
Under the heading ‘negative feedback’, the letter listed out Chandrashekar Rao’s purported failings in his speech at the Warangal meeting. Among these were “forgetting” to talk about 42 per cent reservations to BCs, SC categorisation, and on the Wakf Bill by the central government, and also how Chandrashekar Rao did not speak in Urdu.
On the perceived neglect of the party by Chandrashekar Rao, the letter said, there appears to be only “selective access” to some in the BRS, adding “many ZPTC, ZP chairpersons, and even MLA level leaders are troubled at your inaccessibility.”
“Kindly reach out to everyone,” Kavitha advised Chandrashekar Rao.
The existence of the letter comes amidst continuing whispers about differences between Kavitha, senior party leader T. Harish Rao and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, has reportedly roiled the party from within, with it pointing to how “old” in-charges were given the responsibility of organising the BRS’ silver jubilee celebratory public meeting in Warangal on April 27. This resulted in feedback that those who truly fought for Telangana were ignored, the letter said.
It may be recalled that even during the run up to the meeting, there were fairly noisy whispers in the party that Kavitha and Harish Rao were left out from playing an important role in organising the event, and how it was left entirely to Rama Rao.
A senior BRS leader, however, sought to underplay the entire issue about the letter saying “it is also a daughter writing to her father. And the contents of the letter are nothing new. These are issues that have been making the rounds in party circles for some time now.”
