Kavitha is Second MLC to Resign in Nizamabad

Kavitha’s resignation was accepted on Tuesday by Legislative Council chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy

NIZAMABAD: BRS MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has resigned from her Nizamabad Local Authorities Constituency MLC post. This marks the second such resignation in the district, following the earlier exit of former local bodies MLC R. Bhupathi Reddy. Kavitha’s resignation was accepted on Tuesday by Legislative Council chairman Gutta Sukhender Reddy.

Her resignation has triggered political discussion and surprise, particularly as it is the second instance of a Local Authorities MLC from Nizamabad stepping down after serving two terms.

Elected representatives from Mandal Parishads (MPPs), Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituencies (ZPTCs) and municipalities elect the Local Authorities MLC. Kavitha was first elected to the Legislative Council in 2020 and was re-elected for a second term in 2021 after the completion of her initial tenure.
