Kavitha For Tie-Up With HMS In Singareni
BRS legislator plans pada yatra in the Singareni areas after Dasara

ADILABAD: MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha is likely to have a confrontation with the BRS party’s top leadership and its frontal trade union the Telangana Boggu Gani Karmika Sangam (TBGKS).
Kavitha has formed her own trade union, the Singareni Jagruti, and is seeking a tie-up with left unions in the Singareni Collieries.
After Dasara, the BRS MLC would start a pada yatra in the Singareni areas, starting from Mancherial.
Two days ago, she held talks with Riyaz Ahmed, general secretary of the Hind Mazdoor Sabha (HMS) in Singareni. This has assumed political importance also as the BRS party's working president KT Rama Rao recently appointed former minister Koppula Eshwar as in-charge for TBGKS. In the process, he sidelined his sister, who was its honorary president.
The HMS, which has its presence in a few areas, is planning to expand its base with support from Kavitha’s Telangana Jagruti.
Kavita reportedly hailed HMS by noting that it was floated by Subhash Chandra Bose. HMS is working independently in Telangana, she noted and announced that Singareni Jagruti would work along with the HMS to protect the rights of the Singareni workers.
The MLC demanded that the state government give a 35 per cent bonus to the Singareni workers for Dasara this year, against the 33 per cent last year. She said the Congress government has shown “less profits” for Singareni Collieries.
Kavitha urged the central government to cancel the income tax on the salaries of Singareni workers. The state government, she said, should open new underground mines as only 18- 20 per cent coal was extracted so far under SCCL. She felt that the new underground mines would create more employment opportunities.
