Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad Sarpanches Start Schemes With Own Money

Karimnagar, Warangal, Nizamabad: In the first flush of victory, sarpanches who took oath on Monday have launched self-funded welfare schemes and infrastructure projects, attempting to proved that their election manifestos were more than just promises on paper.
In Chegurthi village of Karimnagar district, sarpanch Bashaveni Sarojan and her husband Mallesham launched a monthly grocery scheme for five years, benefitting six panchayat staff members. They announced `5,116 fixed deposit for every baby girl born in the village.
In Baswapur of Rajanna Sircilla district, sarpanch Purmani Rajashekar Reddy deposited Rs.5,000 into a postal fixed deposit account for girls born this year. He also committed to providing Rs.5,000 as a gift for every wedding in the village.
In Vilasagar of Chaoppadani mandal, sarpanch Enugula Kannaiah not only gifted a Rs.5,000 cheque to a newborn girl but also inaugurated a purified water plant that provides Rs.20 litres of drinking water for Rs.1.
In a move that caught wide attention, the Burugupalli council in Gangadhara mandal passed a resolution to bear part for the expenses for the final rites of those who die in the village. Sarpanch Dulam Kalyan Kumar announced that the panchayat would handle funeral expenses worth Rs.8,000 for any deceased resident for a token fee of just Re.1. The council decided to gift a sapling to residents on their birthdays and wedding anniversaries.
Development works, which usually take months to approve, were initiated within hours of the swearing-in ceremonies in erstwhile Warangal district. In Bikajipalli, sarpanch Bandari Ramesh laid the foundation stone for a CC road.
In Konkapaka of Parvathagiri mandal in Jangaon district, sarpanch Ramadevi prioritised safety by installing street lighting at the village crossroads. In Maddulapalli of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, sarpanch Saritha focused on public health, launching a cleanliness drive and sanitation awareness campaign after taking charge as a village head.

In Ravutla village of Nizamabad’s Sirikonda mandal, BRS-backed sarpanch Kodigela Raju Kumar had a borewell dug in the village. They struck water in the first attempt. Kumar said he had spent Rs.78,000 to set up the borewell, submersible pump set and pipelines.
