KARIMNAGAR: The government has a strong plan to develop Karimnagar into a model city across all sectors, said IT minister D. Sridhar Babu. He, along with welfare minister Adluri Laxman Kumar, MLAs Satyanarayana and Satyam, Satavahana Urban Development Authority (Suda) chairman Komatireddy Narendar Reddy, and district collector Pamela Satpathy, launched several new development projects in Karimnagar on Monday.
The ministers took part in the foundation-laying ceremony for the new Suda commercial building complex and the modernisation of the IDSMT shopping complex located next to the One Town Police Station.
Speaking on the occasion, Sridhar Babu said the government is moving forward with a systematic plan for the city’s development. The new Suda commercial building will be constructed at an estimated cost of ₹4 crore, with ₹2 crore already sanctioned to begin the work. The modernisation of the IDSMT shopping complex will cost ₹79 lakh. Together, these projects amount to ₹6.79 crore and will be completed at the earliest possible time, he said.
The minister urged officials of all concerned departments to monitor the works to ensure high quality and to complete them without any irregularities. He also promised to prepare a special plan to complete pending projects left unfinished by the previous BRS government.
Sridhar Babu further stated that the government is committed to completing the Manair River Front project, which will become a major landmark for Karimnagar. He added that all the institutions established by the then Congress government, including Satavahana University, are functioning successfully, and the government has decided to take special steps to develop the university on all fronts.
