Kakatiya University Celebrates Golden Jubilee With 23rd Convocation Ceremony
Governor urges graduates to lead nation-building

Warangal: Students should not only focus on earning their degrees but also take responsibility for the development of the nation and society, said Telangana Governor and chancellor of Kakatiya University, Jishnu Dev Verma. He was speaking as the chief guest at the 23rd Convocation and Golden Jubilee celebrations of the varsity established in 1976. The programme was held at the university auditorium in Hanamkonda on Monday, under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Pratap Reddy.
Addressing the gathering, the Governor emphasised that the convocation is not the end, but a new beginning, a vital chapter in the lives of students who must transform from learners into future leaders, innovators, and problem-solvers. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, he said youth should become agents of change in research and development. He urged students to go beyond laboratories and apply new ideas to real life and society.
Celebrating its Golden Jubilee, Kakatiya University has established itself as a premier institution for higher education in North Telangana. Its achievements, including the recent NAAC A+ grade, an impressive NIRF ranking, and the top position in Telangana for Green Metrics, reflect the tireless efforts of faculty, students, and researchers, supported by significant funding from national institutions.
Governor Verma remarked that true education goes beyond acquiring information, it should foster the overall personal growth of students. He praised the university’s efforts to prepare students for the future by incorporating modern courses such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, and Data Science, with the goal of equipping them for life’s challenges, not just employment.
Another chief guest, director of IICT Dr D. Srinivas Reddy, shared his inspiring journey from a Telugu-medium school in a small village to a senior scientific position. He emphasised that language is not a barrier to success. "Students should define themselves by their future aspirations, not their past," he said. "Turn challenges into opportunities, failures too offer valuable lessons."
He urged the graduates to embrace critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, curiosity, and communication. "Your success and service will uphold the university’s reputation. As youth, you must contribute to 'Viksit Bharat-2047'. Every effort, no matter how small, helps build the nation’s future," he added.
Vice-chancellor Prof. Pratap Reddy shared that during the ceremony, 387 students were awarded doctoral degrees across various disciplines, and 564 postgraduate students who secured top ranks received gold medals. He commended the hard work students put into their labs, libraries, and classrooms as a testament to their dedication to knowledge.
He extended his congratulations and gratitude to all medal winners for inspiring future generations at Kakatiya University.
