Jupally to Inaugurate Indiramma Houses on June 27

Adilabad:Tourism minister and Adilabad district in-charge minister Jupally Krishna Rao will visit Adilabad district on June 27 to participate in a series of development programmes.

He will attend an awareness meeting for party leaders and cadre on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

The minister will also inaugurate Indiramma houses and the Minority Residential Girls' and Boys' Schools in Adilabad. In addition, he will lay the foundation stone for a Telangana State Warehousing Corporation (TGSWC) godown in the town.

Man apprehended for series of laptop thefts across Hyderabad’s IT corridor

Hyderabad: The Gachibowli police early on Thursday arrested one Gopi Chiman, man accused of stealing laptops from IT professionals, students and residential areas. The Tamil Nadu native specifically targeted locations where laptops were easily available, including engineering colleges, student hostels, PG accommodations, shared accommodations of IT employees and apartment complexes.

According to police, Chiman allegedly carried out thefts mainly between 5 am and 8 am, after surveying target areas during the daytime. He allegedly entered premises through unlocked doors and windows and stole laptops, mobile phones and cash. To avoid suspicion, he would reportedly pretend to be a deaf and mute person while moving around in the targeted areas.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to his involvement in 13 theft cases, registered by the Gachibowli (four), Madhapur (seven) Raidurgam and Filmnagar (one each) police stations.

Police recovered a laptop, a mobile phone and `1.6 lakh cash from him. The accused had been involved in property offences since 2021 and was earlier arrested by Pune police in a laptop theft case in 2023. After obtaining bail, he frequently changed locations to evade police and continued committing similar offences.

2 hotel operators sentenced to five-day community service for violating prescribed closing hours

Hyderabad:Hayathnagar court sentenced two hotel operators to five days of community service for operating their establishments beyond the government-prescribed closing hours.

The convicted operators were identified as Mantu Kumar Yadav, who manages Ganga Jamuna Hotel in Autonagar, and Ramesh, the manager of Mana Swagatha hotel in Turkayamjal. Vanasthalipuram police said both were earlier booked in similar cases for violating government orders.

The duo will perform community service, including assisting with traffic regulation, street cleanliness and other public service activities. The action followed cases registered by Vanasthalipuram police against the hotel operators for continuing business operations past the permitted time.

Vanasthalipuram police also issued a warning to all establishments, including hotels, mandis, tiffin centres and pan shops, to strictly adhere to the notified closing timings. They cautioned that those found violating government orders would face stringent legal action, including community service and possible imprisonment, as ordered by the court.

2 inter-state offenders arrested; 2 country-made pistols, 7 live bullets seized; police foil robbery attempt in the city

Hyderabad:Jubilee Hills Task Force along with Mailardevpally police arrested two persons and seized two country-made pistols, seven live bullets, a car and three mobile phones collectively valued at around `5 lakh and foiled a robbery attempt in the city.

Task force DCP Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad said, the accused, Mudassir Hussain, a car dealer from Charminar. and Ameer Khan, lorry driver from Nanded in Maharashtra, were intercepted in Mailardevpally on Thursday.

Raghunath added that Mudassir was involved in the used-car business after previously working as a seaman. During his association with criminals in Maharashtra, he participated in a dacoity in Karnataka and a businessman kidnapping case in Maharashtra, following which he was jailed in Parbhani. One of his associates later entrusted him with a pistol and ammunition.

Ameer, who frequently travelled between Nanded and Hyderabad, joined Mudassir. Ameer is an accused in a murder case in Maharashtra and another case registered at Moinabad police station.

Alwal police bust fake government housing allotment racket, three arrested

Hyderabad:Alwal police busted a fake government 2 BHK housing allotment racket by arresting three persons accused of cheating nearly 100 poor and economically weaker beneficiaries with forged allotment certificates.

Malkajgiri DCP Ch. Sridhar said the accused collected between `50,000 and 1 lakh from each victim by falsely promising guaranteed allotment of government 2 BHK houses. They claimed that one of the accused, Timmiri Gopinath Pushpalatha. was working in the collectorate as an outsourcing staff of the education department eight years ago and was facilitating allotments. To convince the victims, they issued forged government allotment certificates. The fraud came to light after the victims waited nearly three years without receiving the promised houses.”

Based on a complaint lodged by Gogikar Prasad, Alwal police registered a case on May 20 and launched an investigation. Alwal police arrested Pushpalatha, 54, her son Timmiri Gopinath Vishal, 21, and Mahender Singh, 45, proprietor of Radhaswamy Xerox Centre in Trimulgherry. Investigators found that Pushpalatha and Vishal prepared forged allotment certificates, while Mahender Singh assisted in designing and printing them.

The DCP said that police seized 79 fake government 2 BHK allotment certificates and three mobile phones used in the offence. Other accused, identified as Jayaraj Gangadharan, Nisha Raj, Chintu Raj, remained absconding.
