JNTU Aims for Uniform Academic Standards at All Campuses
Dr K. Vijaya Kumar Reddy, the rector, asked departments to incorporate outcome-based learning and integrate innovation without overpromising. Registrar Dr K. Venkateswara Rao added that reforms must remain grounded in the needs of colleges in rural areas like Paleru and Mantani.

Hyderabad: Uniformity in academic standards, not just ambitious syllabi, topped the agenda as JNTU Hyderabad launched a review of its curriculum under the proposed R25 regulations on Wednesday. Officials said the goal is to ensure every student, regardless of campus, receives the same quality of education.
JNTU Vice Chancellor Prof. T. Kishen Kumar Reddy said colleges must stop overloading students with impractical syllabi that can’t be delivered due to limited infrastructure or faculty. “Quality must take precedence over quantity. A uniform curriculum will bring consistency in teaching, assessment, and placements,” he said. The university is also suspending evening MTech courses until sufficient full-time teaching staff are available.
The R25 regulations, being finalised over two days of Board of Studies (BoS) meetings, aim to align academic structures with the National Education Policy 2020. Director of academic and planning Dr V. Kamakshi Prasad, who outlined the proposed framework, said it incorporated industry inputs and will prioritise interdisciplinary learning while retaining strong fundamentals.
