John Abraham Urges Immediate Action on Palamur Biosciences over Animal Cruelty, 1,200 Beagles at Risk
More than a month on, CCSEA’s own commissioned report has yet to be acted upon. Abraham added, “Even the 73 beagles the company itself marked for rehabilitation remain caged when they should be rehomed.”

Hyderabad: Bollywood actor John Abraham, parent of two adopted Indian dogs, has sent an urgent appeal to the Union animal husbandry minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, seeking immediate action to rescue more than 1,200 beagles and other animals at Palamur Biosciences Pvt Ltd, a contract animal testing laboratory in Mahbubnagar, that recently came to light for mistreating and euthanising animals without following procedure.
Abraham expressed anguish over the “heartbreaking” whistleblower-provided photographs and video footage that showed dogs crammed in cages, many with wounds, pigs being poisoned and left to bleed and wild-caught monkeys exploited for experimentation. He referenced the findings of the report submitted by inspectors appointed by Committee for the Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animals (CCSEA) that corroborated serious cruelty and misconduct at the facility.
Through the report, the CCSEA-appointed inspectors recommended 'immediate regulatory action including the removal and rehabilitation of animals in order to prevent further pain and suffering’ as well as a review of Palamur Biosciences' registration and breeding license status.
More than a month on, CCSEA’s own commissioned report has yet to be acted upon. Abraham added, “Even the 73 beagles the company itself marked for rehabilitation remain caged when they should be rehomed.”
" Please ensure that all animals at Palamur Biosciences are seized and relocated to reputed NGOs and sanctuaries where they can be cared for and from where the dogs can eventually be adopted into loving homes. The animals suffering at Palamur Biosciences cannot wait any longer," he added.
