Job Aeeker Loses Rs 22 L In Fraud

Rahul guided the victim through a fake recruitment process

Hyderabad, July 25: A 41-year-old private company employee from Nagaram was duped of `22.27 lakh by fraudsters who promised him a lucrative job. Based on his complaint, Rachakonda cyber crime police have registered a case and launched an investigation.

According to the police, the victim, who was actively searching for a job, received a phone call from a woman identifying herself as Samiksha. Claiming to represent an employment agency, she assured him of a well-paying job in Hyderabad and referred him to another individual named Rahul Malhotra, who posed as a recruitment executive.
Over the next few days, Rahul guided the victim through a fake recruitment process, demanding multiple payments under various pretexts, including registration, document verification, job code activation and offer letter processing. To avoid raising suspicion, the fraudsters repeatedly assured him that the payments were refundable deposits and would be returned once the offer letter was issued.
Trusting their claims, the victim made 17 transactions totalling `22,27,242 through UPI, bank transfers and credit cards. Despite repeated follow-ups, he never received a job offer. The fraudsters kept postponing the process and eventually became unreachable. Realising he had been scammed, the victim approached the police.
