JNTU-Hyderabad launches online classes to for rural colleges

The programme is meant to overcome problems caused by faculty shortages and ensuring educational equity

Hyderabad: Students in rural constituent colleges of JNTUH will now have access to expert faculty from the university’s main campus, thanks to a new online learning initiative launched by JNTUH Vice Chancellor (in-charge) Prof. V. Balakista Reddy. The programme is meant to overcome problems caused by faculty shortages and ensuring educational equity.

Speaking at the launch, Prof. Reddy said that the initiative is designed to extend quality education to at least 15-20 per cent of students in rural JNTUH colleges. “Many rural colleges struggle to recruit faculty, which directly impacts education quality. With this programme, we are leveraging digital resources to ensure students in Wanaparthy, Sircilla, Mahbubabad, and other constituent colleges receive the same standard of education as those at the Hyderabad main campus,” he said.
The online classes will be conducted on Fridays and Saturdays, depending on faculty availability. The first session, ‘Operating Systems’, was delivered by Dr E. Hemalatha from the department of computer science for second-year students.
