Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Varma participated in the Rakhi for Soldiers celebration at Raj Bhavan, organized by the Samskruti Foundation.
The event saw students from various colleges in the twin cities tying Rakhis to officers of the army, navy, and air force, symbolizing gratitude and solidarity with the nation’s defenders.
Extending Raksha bandhan greetings, the Governor reflected on the festival’s deeper meaning of mutual protection and responsibility, invoking the Mahabharata tale of Draupadi and Lord Krishna.
He noted that soldiers were not only those at the borders but also included individuals serving the nation selflessly in various fields—from scientists to sanitation workers.
Calling for unity and ethical nation-building, Jishnu Dev Varma emphasized the need to protect not just physical boundaries, but also the values of Dharma, truth, and constitutional principles.
