JEE Mains Shift-1 Paper Toughest So Far, Say Experts and Students

Hyderabad: Students and experts said the question papers handed out in the first session on Tuesday, fourth day of the JEE Mains, was the most difficult of all papers held in Session 1 so far, with challenging questions in physics and mathematics.
Chemistry appeared to be an exception. Purushotham, a chemistry faculty, noted that compared to previous days, Tuesday's chemistry section was moderate and had more straightforward NCERT-based questions, benefiting those who studied the textbook thoroughly.
Ashok Kumar, an IIT faculty, said, “Among all sessions, Tuesday morning shift was the toughest. Physics had five to six highly advanced level questions from IIT Advanced, with which many students struggled. Maths was lengthy, with high-level questions from complex numbers and geometry.”
Chemistry, he agreed, was manageable in both shifts. “In the afternoon shift, physics questions was slightly easier compared to the one in the morning,” Ashok Kumar said.
Sai Raghava Koushik, a student at Old Alwal centre, said, “I performed well in chemistry, but physics was very difficult, exceeding the usual JEE Mains level. Maths was lengthy, with tricky questions from coordinate geometry, sets, and matrices, which I found hard to solve.”
Said P. Akshitha, a candidate: “I was already nervous before the exam, and my anxiety increased after seeing the paper. Based on previous session papers, I expected a moderate difficulty level, but it was much tougher.”
For P. Rajesh, maths was difficult and took a lot of time, “but I still tried to perform well.” S. Abhilash added, “The paper was harder than previous ones, but since I had covered almost all topics during preparation, I managed to do well despite the difficulty.”
