HYDERABAD: Ten participants from the regional round of the International Young Chef Olympiad 2026, held in the city, cooked and showcased cuisines from different countries. Jayesh Ranjan, Special Chief Secretary to the Government of Telangana, was the chief guest at the event.

Speaking on the occasion, he said Hyderabad was designated a Unesco Creative City of Gastronomy in 2019, in recognition of its rich culinary heritage that blends Kakatiya, Mughal, Turkish and local Telugu influences.

He noted that the city is globally renowned for iconic dishes such as biryani, kebabs and haleem, and for promoting sustainable food systems, cultural exchange and diverse culinary traditions.
