Hyderabad: Jain community members in Hyderabad are preparing for a series of religious discourses led by Gachhadhipati Acharya Shri Jinmaniprabha Surishwarji Maharaj, regarded as the 82nd successor of Sudharmaswami, the first Ganadhar of Lord Mahavira.
The monk arrived in the city after travelling about 5,000 km on foot, barefoot, drawing participation from the Jain community across Telangana.
A Pravachan was held on Saturday at Dadawadi in Secunderabad, where followers gathered to hear teachings based on Lord Mahavira’s principles.
A procession is scheduled on Sunday from Mahaveer Hospital to Dadawadi in Karwan, with a large number of community members expected to take part.
Members of the Jain community said the Acharya has completed over 53 years of ascetic life and contributed to religious and social activities.
During his visit to Hyderabad, events including 261 anjanshalas and prathistha, 167 diksha ceremonies, 24 chhari pali sangh and 17 updhan tap have been organised, according to organisers.
Explaining the lineage, Sangeeta Jain said : “The distinguished Khartar Gacch tradition traces its origins to Acharya Shri Jineshwar Suriji, who was conferred the title “Khartar” in Vikram Samvat 1075. Over the centuries, the lineage has produced eminent spiritual leaders, including Acharya Abhaydev Suriji, renowned for his commentaries on the Navanga scriptures, the revered Four Dadagurus and several other scholars who enriched Jainism through their learning, guidance and leadership.”
