Jagtial Youth Trapped In Cambodia Cybercrime Syndicate

Family pleads for government intervention: Reports

KARIMNAGAR: A Jagtial youth, Duvvaka Rajesh, was allegedly trafficked into a cybercrime syndicate in Cambodia after being lured with a fake job offer promising high salary, police said on Friday.

Police said Rajesh, a resident of Chinna Metpally in Korutla mandal, travelled to Cambodia four months ago after responding to a social media advertisement offering a computer operator job with a monthly salary of `70,000. He later realised that he had been recruited by a gang involved in cyber fraud.

Rajesh managed to escape from the syndicate with his passport but remains stranded in Cambodia without money for food, shelter or return travel, police said.

His wife, Pravalika Rani, approached the state government’s ‘CM Pravasi Prajavani’ seeking assistance to bring him back to India. She submitted a representation during the programme at Praja Bhavan, urging authorities to intervene.

According to the family, the Indian Embassy in Cambodia informed Rajesh that about `1.20 lakh is required to facilitate his return. Unable to afford the amount, the family sought financial assistance from the government.

Earlier, the grievance was also registered on the ‘MADAD’ portal of the Ministry of External Affairs through the Dharmapuri Aravind Foundation, which alerted authorities and the Indian Embassy.

The family has urged the Telangana government to coordinate with central agencies to secure Rajesh’s safe return.
