Jagtial Transport Officer, Driver in ACB Net

Jagtial District Transport Officer accepted bribe from the complainant through his private driver Banoth Aravind

Karimnagar: Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Wednesday has arrested Banoth Bhadru Naik, the Jagtial district transport office at his office when he demanded and accepted a bribe amount of `22,000 through his private driver Banoth Aravind from the complainant.

The bribe was demanded for showing an official favour for not to book a case and not to impose fine to his earthmover and to release the complainant’s mobile phones. The tainted bribe amount of `22,000 was recovered from the possession of Aravind, the ACB officials said.

They said the right hand fingers of Aravind yielded positive results in the chemical test and added that Naik had initially demanded a bribe amount of `40,000, which was later reduced to `35,000. Out of the said amount, he had already accepted `13,000 two days ago as an initial payment.

Naik subsequently demanded the remaining `22,000, which he accepted on Wednesday through Aravind from the complainant. The ACB officials produced the arrested persons before the special court for ACB cases in Karimnagar district after which the court remanded them to judicial custody.

The details of the complainant were withheld for security reasons, the ACB said.
