Jagtial POCSO Court Jails 60-Year-Old For 20 Years
The case relates to an incident reported in 2023 within Dharmapuri police station limits

KARIMNAGAR: A Fast Track Special Court for POCSO cases in Jagtial district on Monday sentenced a 60-year-old man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for attempting to sexually assault a minor girl.
Principal District and Sessions Judge Ratna Padmavathi also imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on the accused, identified as Syed Afsar, and directed payment of Rs 3 lakh as compensation to the victim.
The case relates to an incident reported in 2023 within Dharmapuri police station limits. Following investigation by then DSP K. Venkataswamy, a chargesheet was filed under the POCSO Act. The prosecution presented witnesses and evidence before the court, leading to the conviction.
District superintendent of police Ashok Kumar commended the police and prosecution for securing the conviction. He also acknowledged the role of Public Prosecutor Bitla Narsiah, the investigating officer and court staff in the case.
