JAC Demands Shifting of Pharma Company From Suryapet
Alleging that pollution from the unit was affecting surrounding colonies

Nalgonda: The Joint Action Committee of areas affected by Cohance Lifesciences unit on Sunday demanded that the pharma company be shifted from Shanthi Nagar in Suryapet, alleging that pollution from the unit was affecting surrounding colonies.
Speaking at a meeting at SVK Grand Hotel in Suryapet, JAC leader K. Shiva Ram said nearly half the population in colonies surrounding the company was suffering from various ailments due to chemical pollution. He said the company, established 40 years ago, had come close to residential areas with the expansion of Suryapet town.
He urged the state government to take steps to shift the pharma company away from residential areas, keeping in view the health of residents.
He said the JAC would launch an agitation demanding the shifting of the company from Shanthi Nagar.
