ISRO Scientists Urge Students To Join India’s Space Push

Dr Gopalakrishna, senior Isro official, described how missions like Chandrayaan-3 and Mangalyaan had set the tone for future interplanetary exploration. Dr R Srinivas spoke about the landmark PSLV-C37 launch, which deployed 104 satellites in one go.

Hyderabad: India’s space sector needs sharp, young minds not just to keep up with global missions but to lead them, senior Indian Space Research Organisation (Isro) officials said at an event at Osmania University on Thursday.

Addressing students at Osmania University College of Engineering’s department of electronics and communication engineering (ECE), Dr K. Chandrashekhar, group director, Isro’s National Remote Sensing Centre, spoke about the scientific breakthroughs behind India’s lunar and solar missions, and the growing demand for space technologists. “We need engineers who understand both deep space and how to solve problems here on Earth using satellite data,” he said.

Prof. Krishnaiah, dean of engineering, OU. emphasised that R&D in space science was not only about rocket launches, it was also about solving pressing environmental and communication challenges. He called on students to pursue STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) seriously and consider Isro as a career path.

ECE head Prof. P. Naveen Kumar said Osmania University’s long-standing collaboration with Isro had helped students gain hands-on exposure to remote sensing technologies. “This campus must serve as a launchpad for the next generation of satellite engineers,” he said.

The event honoured winners of competitions held earlier in the week and brought together students from OU, nearby colleges, and schools, supported by the ECE department’s student forums and alumni association.
