IRS Officer’s Bag Stolen In Tenali
According to Tenali Three Town police, the officer had arrived in the town to attend a wedding at a private function hall. He had hired a private driver temporarily and informed him that they were travelling to Guntur.

Vijayawada: An IRS officer from Telangana, Shanti Raja, lost a bag containing cash, gold ornaments and mobile phones worth Rs 9.45 lakh after it was stolen from his car at Tenali in Bapatla district on Thursday night.
According to Tenali Three Town police, the officer had arrived in the town to attend a wedding at a private function hall. He had hired a private driver temporarily and informed him that they were travelling to Guntur. Before stepping out of the car, the officer asked the driver to safeguard a bag kept inside, which contained valuables.
The driver reportedly went to a nearby washroom, and on returning, found the car’s side window pane shattered and the bag missing. The stolen bag contained Rs 5 lakh in cash, two gold chains, three gold rings, three mobile phones and identification cards.
Police said the car had been parked near a bridge in a poorly lit area with no CCTV coverage. Preliminary findings suggest that miscreants who had been observing the vehicle took advantage of the driver’s brief absence to steal the bag. Police ruled out any suspicion of the driver’s involvement. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
Teen ends life after uncle harassment
HYDERABAD: A 17-year-old intermediate student from Kompally, Petbasheerabad, died by suicide on Thursday evening, allegedly due to continuous harassment by her paternal uncle over repayment of a loan. According to Petbasheerabad police, the girl, a student of Chaitanya College, ended her life while her mother was away at work. The mother found her daughter’s body on returning home, along with a suicide note accusing her father’s elder brother, Sreenu, and his parents of mentally harassing her.
The mother told police that her husband and his brother had jointly borrowed money from a private finance firm two years ago. Unable to repay his share, the husband died by suicide eight months ago. Since then, Sreenu had allegedly been visiting their home, demanding repayment of the Rs 5 lakh loan and subjecting the family to repeated humiliation.
An argument reportedly took place between Sreenu and the girl on Thursday, following which she took the extreme step. The note said the family had “lost dignity” because of the uncle’s constant visits and alleged that Sreenu demanded her father’s death certificate, threatening eviction from the house, which belongs to his parents.
The girl also mentioned her mother’s financial burden, including college fees and household expenses and wrote that Sreenu had cruelly remarked that “he had killed his younger brother.” While the mother also alleged sexual harassment, Petbasheerabad inspector Vijay Vardhan said there was no concrete evidence of it yet. A case of abetment to suicide has been registered against Sreenu, and the girl’s body was shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem.
