Sangareddy: Sleuths from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday apprehended Gummadidala mandal irrigation Assistant Engineer (AE) Ravi Kishore while he was accepting a bribe of Rs. 1 lakh. The incident took place at the Patancheru Engineering Sub-Division office in Sangareddy district.
According to details of the case, AE Ravi Kishore had threatened a farmer who constructed a small culvert to drain water to his field. Kishore demanded that the farmer apply for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) and initially asked for a bribe of Rs. 10 lakh to facilitate the process. After negotiations, the bribe amount was reduced to Rs. 7 lakh, with Kishore insisting on an initial payment of Rs. 1 lakh.
Unable to bear the extortion, the farmer approached the ACB with a complaint. Acting on the tip-off, ACB officials laid a trap and caught Ravi Kishore red-handed while he was accepting the Rs. 1 lakh bribe.
