IPS Trainee Remanded for Harassing Woman Colleague
Police said Krishna Reddy, who had been untraceable, was tracked through technical evidence and CCTV footage by five special teams, including Rajendranagar zone task force personnel.
Hyderabad:Trainee IPS officer M. Uday Krishna Reddy, accused of sexually harassing a fellow woman trainee at the SVP National Police Academy, was arrested in Miryalguda and taken into custody by Attapur police on Wednesday. He was produced before the Upparpally court and remanded to 14 days’ judicial custody.
Police said Krishna Reddy, who had been untraceable, was tracked through technical evidence and CCTV footage by five special teams, including Rajendranagar zone task force personnel. He was intercepted in Miryalguda while travelling towards his native place in Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh.
He was later shifted to a task force office, where officers questioned him for over three hours, recorded his statement and seized his mobile phone. Technical evidence was collected and matched with material provided by the complainant, a woman IPS trainee.
Police said the complaint was received on July 18. Cases were booked under Sections 74, 75, 77, 78, 79, 115(2), 127(2) and 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, along with provisions of the IT Act. The charges include sexual assault, harassment, voyeurism, stalking, wrongful confinement, criminal intimidation and causing hurt.
Officials said both the accused and the victim underwent medical examination at government hospitals before further proceedings. After completion of paperwork, Krishna Reddy was produced before the Upparpally court and sent to judicial remand.
City police commissioner V. C. Sajjanar said Krishna Reddy, who earlier worked as a police constable, joined the IPS in the 2025 batch after clearing the UPSC and has been undergoing training since December 2025 at the SVP NPA.
He came into contact with the victim via Instagram in mid‑2025 following her response to his post about his journey to the IPS. The two entered into a relationship, but police said it was marked by frequent arguments, emotional manipulation, possessiveness and volatile behaviour.
The accused allegedly threatened to commit suicide, displayed weapons, insulted her, demanded multiple relationships and engaged in acts of harassment, including damaging her laptop, creating fake social media accounts after being blocked and issuing threats to release private chats.
The commissioner said that after the victim broke off the relationship and married another person, Reddy intensified his harassment, continuing to create fake accounts and contacting her family and colleagues without consent.
Investigators said the offences included threats, emotional abuse and repeated acts of intimidation during the relationship. The victim and other witnesses described his behaviour as unbearable, leading to the complaint.
When the media tried to interact with Krishna Reddy, he refused to comment as videographers filmed him entering the police station for questioning. Wearing a medical mask to cover his face, he pushed one of the videographers in the presence of police officials.
Based on the investigation, police found him involved in the reported offences. The arrest and remand were carried out by a special team formed by Sajjanar under the supervision of Dr. P. Lavanya Naik Jadav, DCP, WCSW, Hyderabad.
Further investigation is in progress to ascertain all facts and circumstances connected with the case. Appropriate legal action is being taken strictly in accordance with the law.
