IPS Cadres Strength Increased To 151

The central government has increased the IPS cadres strength from 139 to 151 in Telangana following Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's request for a review of the issue.

Hyderabad:The central government has increased the IPS cadres strength from 139 to 151 in Telangana following Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy's request for a review of the issue.

After the Congress government came to power in Telangana, Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy wrote to the Ministry of Home Affairs seeking immediate action in reviewing the IPS cadre for the state. Every five years, the central government needs to review the cadres of IPS and increase the strength.

After the Chief Minister wrote thrice seeking more IPS cadre for Telangana, Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy also raised the issue in Parliament. The Union Home Minister had promised to consider the issue with immediate effect.

The ministry of home affairs increased the cadre strength as follows: total service duty posts: 83; central deputation reserve posts: 33; state deputation reserve posts: 20; training reserve posts: 2; leave reserve and junior reserve posts: 13; posts to be filled with promotion: 46; posts to be filled by direct recruitment: 105.
