INTUC urges Seethaka to reinstate MGNREGA field assistants
Dr Reddy strongly urged the minister to take immediate and concrete steps to employ all MGNREGA field assistants

Hyderabad, July 28: Dr G. Sanjeeva Reddy, president of the Indian National Trade Union Congress (Intuc) on Monday highlighted the longstanding demands of over 250 workers who were removed by the BRS government and urged rural development minister Danasari Anasuya Seethakka during a meeting on Monday to reinstate them and ensure justice.
Dr Sanjeeva Reddy met the minister along with union members and demanding justice for MGNREGA field assistants.
Highlighting their grievances, Dr Reddy strongly urged the minister to take immediate and concrete steps to employ all MGNREGA field assistants, many of whom have been rendering services for the past 20 years, as fixed term employees, on par with other MGNREGA staff already enjoying this status.
He also called for the scrapping of Circular No 4779, which has led to widespread insecurity among field assistants. He added that the circular was discriminatory in nature and urged the minister to reinstate around 259 Field Assistants who were 'unlawfully terminated' under the previous KCR-led government, without due process or justification.
Dr Sanjeeva Reddy further requested the minister to ensure the immediate release of wages pending for the past four months.
