INTUC President Lauds Revanth Reddy for Pro-Worker Initiatives; Pledges Support to State Government

The minister assured Dr Sanjeeva Reddy that the Congress government is committed to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring their welfare

HYDERABAD: Dr G Sanjeeva Reddy, president of the All India Indian National Trade Union Congress (Intuc), lauded Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for initiating dialogue with Telangana Road Transport Corporation (TGRTC) employee unions and taking steps to resolve employees’ issues.

He said the Intuc would continue to extend its cooperation to the government for the development and progress of the state and expressed hope for similar cooperation from the government in addressing the concerns of the working class.

Dr Sanjeeva Reddy extended assurances to labour minister Dr Vivek Venkatswamy, who called on him at his residence on Saturday. Intuc leaders present included G. Satyajeet Reddy, Babar Saleem Pasha, Jhanak Prasad, Adil Shariff, Jagan Mohan Reddy, Vijay Kumar Yadav and Bhaskar Reddy.

During the meeting, Dr Sanjeeva Reddy discussed issues affecting the working class, including the welfare of gig and platform workers, municipal and industrial workers, and those employed in shops and establishments. Key concerns highlighted were minimum wages, social security, extension of medical insurance to all workers, and the welfare of hamali and construction workers.

The minister assured Dr Sanjeeva Reddy that the Congress government is committed to protecting workers’ rights and ensuring their welfare. Dr Vivek Venkatswamy said he would soon meet the Chief Minister and convene a meeting with Intuc leadership to consider suggestions aimed at improving workers’ living conditions.
