Intuc Chief Opens Steel Workers Meet

Calling on union leaders, Reddy urged them to remain united and vigilant in safeguarding worker rights, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions and social security.

Hyderabad: Intuc national president G. Sanjeeva Reddy inaugurated the conference of the Indian National Steel Metal, Metal Mines and Engineering Employees Federation (INSMM&EEF). Addressing the gathering on Monday, he said the federation has a proud history of uniting workers from Tata Steel, Bhilai Steel, Rourkela Steel, Vizag Steel, BALCO and several other industries across the country.

“With a membership of more than 3.37 lakh workers, the federation represents the true strength of the working class in the steel, metal, mines and engineering sectors,” he said. He emphasised that the movement has been guided by justice, equality and labour dignity. “The role of federations like INSMM&EEF becomes more vital in a time when workers are facing growing challenges due to technological changes, contractualisation, privatisation and unsafe working conditions,” he explained.

Calling on union leaders, Reddy urged them to remain united and vigilant in safeguarding worker rights, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions and social security. “We must continue to carry Intuc’s legacy of protecting worker interests and strengthening the trade union movement in India,” he said.
