Intoxicated Man Goes on Rampage With Knife at Mahbubabad Govt. Hospital
Man vandalises property, threatens staff, attempts suicide after being restrained
Warangal: A migrant labourer from Bihar who was heavily drunk and seeking medical attention for his ill-health, vandalised hospital property and threatened bystanders with a knife at the Government Hospital in Mahbubabad district on Thursday after feeling ignored by the staff. After the ruckus, he locked himself in a dressing room and attempted suicide.
According to the police, he smashed hospital furniture and medical equipment, causing extensive damage. He chased patients, their relatives and hospital staff as people ran for their lives.
Despite the risk, the hospital security personnel brought the situation under control. The security team forcibly broke open the door, overpowered him and immediately shifted him to emergency medical care. Their quick intervention prevented loss of life.
The hospital authorities said that the man’s condition was critical due to self-inflicted injuries to his throat. Meanwhile, police started an investigation by registering a case. Since the person was not in a stable condition, the police said that his details will be known once he becomes normal.
