Intoxicated Assailants Rape Homeless Woman, Leave Her Bleeding

Hyderabad: Unidentified assailants, reportedly high on ganja, allegedly raped a homeless woman and left her bleeding after her 12-year-old son tried to confront them, Makhtal Town police said on Thursday. The woman was attacked between 2 am and 3 am near a shelter adjacent to junior college ground in Makhtal mandal of Narayanpet district.
Police said the woman and her son were asleep at the spot, said to be in a remote area, when the gang reportedly high on ganja attacked them. At about 5 am, locals noticed the woman pleading for help and called the police. “We rushed to the spot and shifted the victim to a government hospital,” a police officer said. A woman constable has been deputed to accompany the victim and a women’s team had been sent to record her statement.
Doctors after examination confirmed the assault. Her physical condition was stated to be stable by the evening, Doctors were still evaluating the reason for her bleeding injuries. Police said they had detained two persons on suspicion. The woman and her son were staying separately from the family due to marital disputes. She used to do odd jobs to earn money.
“We have intensified night patrolling in the area and instructed the authorities to install high mast lights. We have proposed installing fo CCTV cameras at the identified isolated places to prevent further incidents,” an officer said.

Hyderabad: The prisons department on Thursday inaugurated Swami Vivekananda Vanam at the Prisoners’ Agricultural Colony (PAC), Cherlapalli, an initiative aimed at creating a peaceful, green and positive environment for inmates and supporting their mental well-being, character building and rehabilitation. Swami Bodhamayananda, Adhyaksha, Ramakrishna Math, Hyderabad, inaugurated the facility in the presence of Dr Soumya Mishra, DG prisons. Dr Mishra said that the inauguration of the garden reflects the department’s commitment to helping inmates develop a positive attitude and rebuild their lives.
Swami Bodhamayananda highlighted the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, particularly his message of strength, courage, self-confidence and universal brotherhood. He appreciated the prisons department for creating the garden.
Rs 95L Insurance Compensation Given To AR Constable Kambala Shankar's Family
Hyderabad: DGP C.V. Anand on Thursday handed over insurance compensation of Rs 95 lakh to the family of Kambala Shankar, Armed Reserve (AR) constable of the Malkajgiri commissionerate, who died in a road accident on March 28. The accident occurred when Shankar lost control of the vehicle near Wadaparthy and sustained serious injuries. He was initially shifted to AIIMS and later to a private hospital in Secunderabad, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 31.
Shankar’s salary was credited to his Bank of Baroda Police Salary Package account. Following his death, the bank processed the insurance claim. An amount of ₹15 lakh was sanctioned under the GTL cover and ₹80 lakh under the GPA cover, taking the total compensation to ₹95 lakh, a press release issued from DGP’s office stated.
People Impersonating Doctors Would Not Be Spared, Warns VC Sajjanar
Hyderabad: City police commissioner V.C. Sajjanar on Thursday said people impersonating doctors would not be spared as they were playing with the lives of. “Posing as a doctor, which is a noble profession, comes under the heinous crime category,” he said. He was speaking against the backdrop of the arrest of 11 persons posing as doctors, furnishing fake certificates and working from health units.
Joint teams had been formed comprising special branch and the commissioner’s task force personnel in all the zones to identify fake doctors. The team has collected the list of registered doctors from authorities who have been deployed on field operation, sources disclosed. “The teams are working 24/7 to identify and take action as per law on fake doctors,” Sajjanar said.
Sajjanar said that anyone doubting the qualifications of doctors could check their credentials on the website of the Telangana Medical Council at onlinetsmc.in If the details do not appear there, they should be identified as fake, police said. He asked people to call the police on 112 and provide information about fake doctors. “If there is any doubt about the treatment procedure or the behaviour of the staff, a second opinion should be taken immediately from other qualified specialists,” police said.
It should be noted that the official registration certificate issued by the district medical health department (DMHO) must be prominently displayed at the reception of the clinics and hospitals. The registration number allotted by Telangana Medical Council (TMC) along with name, educational qualifications of doctors must be mentioned, Sajjanar added.
Inter Student Dies by Suicide After Chided For Excessive Phone Talk
Hyderabad: A 17-year-old intermediate second year student died by suicide, reportedly after being pulled up for spending time on talking on her mobile. The teen was found dead near the Uppuguda railway station Thursday. According to Chatrinaka police, she left home late on Wednesday night after a tiff with her father. Police booked a case of death under suspicious circumstances. Her body was handed over to her family members after the postmortment.
Livestock Rustling Racket Busted: One Held, Five Abscond In Vikarabad
Hyderabad: Bonraspet police arrested a man for alleged theft of farm animals, while five others managed to escape, in Vikarabad district. Police stopped an SUV on the highway near Bomraspet as part of the operation, arrested Mohammed Salman of Moinbagh in the Old City and recovered Rs 5.55 lakh cash.
Bomraspet sub inspector Bala Venkata Ramana that Salman had identified the absconding accused as Shaukat, Tahir, Sabir and Natta from Haryana. The gang used to steal cattle, goats and sheep at night and sell them. He said cases of animal theft had been booked at Bomraspet, Parigi, Changomul, Doma, Kulakacharla, Dudyala, Dharur, Bantwaram, Peddemul mandals of the district as well Kosgi in Narayanpet district, Shankarampet in Medak district, Yadagirigutta in Yadadri district, Nizamsagar in Kamareddy district, Chevella and Shankarpalli mandals of Rangareddy district. In all the gang faced 23 cases. Four teams have been formed to track and arrest the five absconders, police said.
