Warangal: Fear gripped the students when the intermediate first-year students attacked the ninth-class students at the government tribal welfare boys’ gurukul school in Narsampet of Warangal district. The incident that took place on Thursday night came to light on Friday after a video went viral on social media showing students carrying the unconscious boy in their arms to the local hospital.
The injured student, identified as Deepak, is currently in stable condition, according to doctors. Junior students alleged that intermediate students beat them without reason to assert dominance in the school.
At the time of the attack, there were no teachers, wardens, or duty staff present on the premises to protect the children. Officials believed that the clash may be linked to a small dispute that occurred ten days ago.
Following the incident, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) took suo motu notice of the case. On the orders of DLSA chairman Saikumar, a team of lawyers visited the school to record statements from students and staff.
Simultaneously, District Tribal Development Officer (DTDO) Soujanya and District Coordination Officer (DCO) Surendar conducted an internal inquiry. They inquired about both the ninth-class and intermediate students separately to understand what led to the violence.
Meanwhile, disciplinary action has already begun, with regional coordinator D. S. Venkanna issuing a show-cause notice to school principal Sangeeth Sagar for negligence. The intermediate students involved in the attack received counseling in the presence of their parents and were warned of severe consequences if such behaviour were to repeat. The officials said the final report on the incident and the staff’s failure to provide supervision will be submitted to the district collector, Satya Sharada, for further action.
