Inflows Begin into SRSP, Nizamsagar

Nizamabad: Early monsoon showers have begun to raise water levels at the Sriramsagar and Nizamsagar irrigation projects, offering relief to farmers in the undivided Nizamabad region.
Irrigation officials said Sriramsagar has received 293.223 tmc since June 1 last year, with outflows of 287.297 tmc. Fresh inflows are expected to rise if heavy rainfall continues in Maharashtra, swelling the Godavari upstream.
Rain across Karnataka’s Manjeera basin is forecast to boost inflows over the coming days.

Private desilting carried out behind Sriramsagar in recent months is expected to marginally enhance storage and extend backwaters into Armoor, Donkeshwar, Nandipet and Navipet mandals.
Presently, water level in Sriramsagar project is 1,062.10 feet as against its full reservoir level of 1091.00 ft. Last year on the same day water level was 1,056.20 feet with 7.410 tmc. Of 80.50 tmc gross storage capacity, presently 12.6 tmc water is available. Around 2,315 cusecs of water inflows reaching Sriramsagar project on Friday. Meanwhile, average outflows stands at 672cusecs including evaporation losses and drinking water needs under Mission Bhagiratha scheme.
