Indicating Widening Rift, Kavtiha Says BRS Wrong Opposing Congress BC Reservations Move
BRS MLC K. Kavitha on Thursday said the BRS was wrong in opposing the BC reservation that the Congress government wants to roll out.

HYDERABAD: BRS MLC K. Kavitha on Thursday said the BRS was wrong in opposing the BC reservation that the Congress government wants to roll out.
During a chat with reporters at her residence, Kavitha, who has been at loggerheads with the party leadership for some time now, said BRS leaders, who were opposing the government’s ordinance to implement BC reservations in the state, will realize that she is right and will eventually support her on this issue.
However, Kavitha’s brother and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, speaking with reporters in Siricilla, said that the fact remains that the BC reservations cannot be implemented unless they become enshrined in the Constitution, and just because the Chief Minister issues an ordinance or sends a paper to the Governor, it does not mean that the reservations will be enforced.
“The BCs have understood this and will teach a lesson to the Congress in the local body elections. Irrespective of who understood this or not, this is a fact,” Rama Rao said.
His sister Kavitha, however, has been vocal in her support to the Congress government’s plans to implement the reservations in the local body elections.
Another sign that Kavitha is being slowly but systematically excised from within the BRS came on Wednesday after Rama Rao announced that senior party leader Koppula Eshwar will replace her as the head of the Telangana Boggu Gani Karmikula Sangham (TBGKS).
Replying to a question from media persons on this issue, Kavitha said Eshwar was a senior leader who worked in the Singareni Collieries in the past and that she was certain he will do the job assigned to him.
Kavitha, who had previously criticised the party leadership of not speaking up in her support when she was under attack by her opponents from within as well as outside of the BRS, expressed disappointment that none in the BRS spoke up in her support following MLC Chintapandu Naveen alias Teenmaar Mallana’s severely objectionable comments on her. “I again leave this to their wisdom,” she said.
