India’s Waves Attract Foreign Creators

Students, creators, developers, artists, businessmen, industry leaders, tech giants and film stars all converged at WAVES 2025 in Mumbai to discuss and collaborate on expanding India’s reach in multimedia and creative arts.

Hyderabad:Students, creators, developers, artists, businessmen, industry leaders, tech giants and film stars all converged at WAVES 2025 in Mumbai to discuss and collaborate on expanding India’s reach in multimedia and creative arts.

Speaking with Deccan Chronicle, Mark Rober, a former Nasa scientist and a YouTube science content creator with nearly 70 million subscribers, said: “It feels really good being in India and interacting with people here. I spoke to a bunch of enthusiastic people, and the energy here is palpable”

Rober, who worked extensively on the Mars Curiosity rover, has created more than 200 videos, and has more than 11 billion views on his YouTube channel. He has garnered international attention by making science easy and accessible to young minds.

He said “I met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi here, after his keynote session. We had a really good conversation. It was really exciting.”

He further stated that he is launching a `50 lakh giveaway to 10 young engineers who are talented. “The `5 lakh to each person can change their lives and help them kickstart their engineering life, which will shape their future.”

Lindive Katlego, a South African entrepreneur, said: “India has a lot of untapped talent. The creative skills of people here are very strong, and if put in the right way, extraordinary works of art can be created.”

Students and young creators, who often do not have a chance to interact with the bigwigs of the industry, were given an opportunity to speak and collaborate with experts.

Rajesh, a student from Mumbai’s Goregaon, said: “I was able to speak with a major multimedia company’s COO, and he gave me really important advice and information on how I can make my career in the industry.”
