Indian Academy of Sciences Elects UoH Chemistry Professor

Prof. Jana, with UoH since 2005, works on polymer membranes, hydrogen energy systems, sustainable polymers and polymeric nanostructures.

Hyderabad: Prof. Tushar Jana of the University of Hyderabad (UoH) has been elected a Fellow of the Indian Academy of Sciences, Bengaluru, for 2026, recognising his long-standing research in polymer chemistry and materials science.

Prof. Jana, with UoH since 2005, works on polymer membranes, hydrogen energy systems, sustainable polymers and polymeric nanostructures. His research group has developed materials used in areas such as fuel cells, water electrolysers, sensors, coatings, drug delivery and environmentally safer polymers. Several of these studies have moved beyond the lab through collaborations with industry.

An academic mentor for nearly two decades, UoH said Jana has guided many postgraduate and doctoral students, along with postdoctoral researchers, which stand out for linking fundamental chemistry with real-world applications, particularly in energy and sustainability.

The Indian Academy of Sciences fellowship is considered one of the country’s top academic recognitions, awarded to scientists for sustained and original contributions to their fields.
