Improve education standards in schools: Yogita Rana
The education secretary asked officials to monitor better, implement effective teaching strategies and properly use resources to enhance the quality of education.

Hyderabad: Education secretary Yogita Rana on Tuesday directed officials to take strict measures to improve learning standards in schools. She asked them to monitor better, implement effective teaching strategies and properly use resources to enhance the quality of education.
At a review meeting with district and state-level education officials, the discussions focused on Class X exam preparations, student performance, school monitoring and budget utilisation. She asked district education officers (DEOs) and teachers to carefully analyse every aspect of the education system and implement targeted solutions.
One of the major concerns addressed in the meeting was the performance of Class X students in board exams. She suggested that schools group students based on their learning levels and use customised teaching plans to help them improve. She also recommended organising special classes, mentoring students and providing essential study materials like Abhyasa Deepika. She directed officials to identify areas in which students were weak and create specific action plans to strengthen their learning.
The meeting also reviewed Telangana’s ranking in the Performance Grading Index (PGI). The education secretary directed the officials to ensure that all schools take required measures to improve the state’s ranking. She pointed out that while many policies exist; proper data entry and regular updates are often missing, affecting the overall performance. She praised districts like Medchal-Malkajgiri, Hanamkonda, Warangal and Siddipet for their progress in education quality.
She also stressed the importance of regular monitoring of Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) and Learning Improvement Programs (LIP). Mandal education officers (MEOs) and school heads were instructed to record their school visits in a designated app. During these visits, they must review textbooks, lesson plans and teaching quality to ensure effective learning strategies are in place.
Additionally, she directed officials to monitor the implementation of the “5+1” teaching method in schools. A key concern raised in the meeting was the declining student enrollment in Telangana schools over the past two years. She instructed officials to track every student and ensure their proper registration in schools.
Regarding school funding, she directed officials to fully use the allocated budget for Schools and other projects without delays. She stressed that all sanctioned funds should be spent efficiently and that digital learning tools like the DIKSHA platform should be fully utilised. She assured that monthly review meetings would continue to track the progress of these initiatives.
