IIT Madras to Train Sircilla Students in Advanced Tech

The curriculum will feature recorded video lessons accessible through a dedicated portal, plus live Q&A sessions with IIT professors every Saturday.

Karimnagar: The Government High School in Sircilla has officially partnered with IIT Madras under its “School Connect” programme, which links school education with higher learning. This collaboration was confirmed by an email from IIT Madras to the school’s headmaster, Ch. Srinivas, in Rajanna Sircilla district.

Launched by IIT Madras’s Centre for Outreach and Digital Education (CODE), the programme introduces advanced subjects like technology and social sciences to students early in their education, laying a foundation for future innovators. Beginning in August, IIT Madras, in collaboration with Scaler School of Technology, will offer 10 eight-week online courses for Class X students. Topics include data science, artificial intelligence, aerospace, architecture and design, biological systems engineering, practical mathematics, games and puzzles, environmental studies, law, electronic systems, and the humanities.

The curriculum will feature recorded video lessons accessible through a dedicated portal, plus live Q&A sessions with IIT professors every Saturday. Upon successful completion, students will receive official IIT Madras certificates. School teachers have assured that these classes will be scheduled outside regular academic hours and will not interfere with daily lessons. The school is fully equipped for online instruction.

Students and parents seemed enthusiastic, with many willing to attend additional classes, even during certain holidays, to support the programme. Headmaster Chakinala Srinivas told the Deccan Chronicle that this partnership will greatly benefit students by equipping them with essential skills in rapidly growing fields like data science and AI, thereby aiding their future academic and career decisions.
