IIT Hyderabad And Japan’s Mie University Sign MOUS For Academic Collaboration On Semiconductors
The MOUS provide a framework for academic cooperation: Reports

HYDERABAD: IIT Hyderabad and Japan’s Mie University on Tuesday signed two MOUS to strengthen academic and research ties between India and Japan, with a focus on student and faculty exchanges, semiconductors and digital technologies. The MOUS provide a framework for academic cooperation, joint research and student exchange programmes between the two institutions, a statement said.
Under the agreements, the universities will encourage student, faculty and staff exchanges, share academic information, and organise joint research projects, lectures and symposia. Students will be able to participate in exchange programmes lasting one or two consecutive academic semesters, subject to agreed conditions.
The partnership is expected to support the development of skilled professionals and research in semiconductors and related digital technologies. Mie University has a dedicated semiconductor division, while Mie Prefecture is an established semiconductor industry hub in Japan. The collaboration could also strengthen links with semiconductor companies and organisations in the region.
Prof. Hideto Miyake, Professor and assistant to the President of Mie University, said the partnership would create opportunities for students and young researchers while strengthening ties with industry. IIT Hyderabad Director Prof. B S Murty said the MOUS would help students, faculty and researchers work together and connect academic strengths with industry needs.
