IIIT-H, Hexagon Set Up CoE for Digital Twin Research
The CoE will support applied research, prototypes and proof-of-concept projects aimed at real-world industry challenges.

Hyderabad: The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H) and Hexagon R&D India will establish a centre of excellence (CoE) at the institute to advance research and education in digital twins, computer vision and spatial computing using artificial intelligence (AI).
The Hexagon digital twin CoE will provide IIIT-H students, faculty and researchers access to Hexagon’s Leica BLK360 G2 precision imaging laser scanner and associated software, the institute said, adding that the technology can capture detailed information about physical spaces and help create high-fidelity digital representations, known as digital twins.
The CoE will support applied research, prototypes and proof-of-concept projects aimed at real-world industry challenges. It will also give students and researchers access to industry-grade technologies and datasets, allowing them to explore applications in spatial computing and computer vision.
IIIT-H director Prof. Sandeep K. Shukla said the collaboration would provide researchers and students with access to advanced technologies and real-world spatial data, helping take research from laboratories to practical applications.
Navaneet Mishra, senior vice-president and head of Hexagon’s R&D India, said capturing, understanding and digitally representing the physical world was creating new possibilities across industries.
He said the collaboration would give students and researchers access to Hexagon technologies as well as real-world challenges.
Nora Hollenstein, vice-president, AI Hub at Hexagon AB, said the company aimed to create an environment in India where ideas could be tested and deep research could contribute to real-world solutions.
