Idol Immersion Plans Under New Civic Set-Up
According to civic plans, 141 immersion centres, 275 cranes, 3,264 sanitation workers and 478 mobile toilets will be deployed across the three corporations.
Hyderabad:The government has geared up for Ganesh Chaturthi festivities, with the Greater Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Malkajgiri municipal corporations, along with police, electricity, R&B and water board departments, making elaborate arrangements for idol immersion.
With GHMC’s jurisdiction reorganised after areas within the ORR limits were brought under the new corporations, this will be the first Ganesh festival under the new administrative arrangement. Tri-commissionerate chiefs R.V. Karnan, G. Srijana and Vinay Krishna Reddy have made arrangements to ensure smooth and peaceful immersion.

The CMC has identified 54 immersion points, including 32 lakes, 13 ponds, seven temporary plastic tanks and two mobile ponds. Around 1.3 lakh devotees are expected to participate in processions and immersion festivities in its limits. The corporation will deploy 81 cranes, 1,138 sanitation workers and 130 mobile toilets.
The GHMC has identified 47 immersion centres, including 17 lakes such as Hussainsagar, and 30 tanks. It will deploy 110 cranes, 770 sanitation workers and 286 mobile toilets. Nearly five lakh people are expected to attend the immersion at Hussainsagar and Tank Bund this year.
As many as 41 cranes will be positioned at major immersion points along Necklace Road, including People’s Plaza, Sanjeevaiah Park, Tank Bund towards Indira Park and NTR Marg. Another 17 cranes will be kept ready for emergencies at Kavadiguda. Around 100 mobile toilets will also be placed along the major procession route from Balapur through Charminar, Goshamahal and Abids to Hussainsagar.
The MMC has identified 40 immersion centres, comprising 18 lakes, seven temple tanks and 15 temporary tanks. It will deploy 84 cranes, 1,356 sanitation workers and 62 mobile toilets. The Saroornagar, Safilguda, Shamirpet and Edulabad lakes are expected to witness large crowds, with special attention to sanitation, drinking water and illumination.
