IDBI Bank Sanctions ₹74 Lakh CSR Grant to Karimnagar Eye Hospital
IDBI Bank has conveyed its in-principle approval for the grant, stating that the initiative is intended to improve the quality of life of the rural poor

KARIMNAGAR: The Lions Club of Karimnagar Charitable Eye Hospital (Dr Bhaskar Madekar Udra Netra Vaidhyashala) at Rekurthi has received a major boost to its surgical facilities. Under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, IDBI Bank has approved a donation of ₹74.08 lakh to the hospital, trust board member Kola Anna Reddy said in a statement issued in Karimnagar on Thursday.
He said the Rekurthi Eye Hospital is widely known for its charitable services, including its long-standing practice of performing free cataract surgeries every Thursday for underprivileged patients. The newly sanctioned funds will support the hospital’s ambitious ₹5 crore Retina Department project, aimed at offering advanced eye care services that are currently unavailable in the district.
The grant has been earmarked for the establishment of three modern modular operation theatres in the upcoming Retina Department. Part of the funding will also be utilised to purchase an Ashok Leyland 40-seater bus for mobile eye care services. The vehicle will help extend specialised eye care to remote and rural areas, benefiting underprivileged communities with limited access to hospitals.
IDBI Bank has conveyed its in-principle approval for the grant, stating that the initiative is intended to improve the quality of life of the rural poor. Hospital authorities have been given 30 days to complete the formal acceptance process, after which implementation of the project will begin.
