IAS Panel to Probe Bhoodan Misdeeds at Nagaram
Three-member committee to investigate the alleged illegal transfers of 103 acres in Nagaram village, report due in three weeks.
Hyderabad: The Telangana government has informed the High Court that it has constituted a three-member committee of IAS officers to investigate alleged irregularities concerning Bhoodan lands in Nagaram village, Rangareddy district.
The committee comprises Navin Mittal, principal secretary, revenue department; Raghunandan Rao, secretary, agriculture and cooperation department and Shashanka, commissioner for state flagship projects.
Government counsel Katram Muralidhar Reddy submitted that the committee will examine irregularities involving 103.22 acres in Survey Nos. 181 and 182 of Nagaram village, Maheshwaram mandal, and file a report within three weeks.
The Division Bench, comprising Acting Chief Justice Sujoy Paul and Justice Renuka Yara, was hearing an appeal related to the alleged illegal transfer of approximately 50 acres of Bhoodan Yagna Board land to private individuals. Despite these lands being listed under the Prohibitory Register, pattadar passbooks were reportedly issued to the buyers by the Ranga Reddy district collectorate in 2021. Earlier, even a request for succession transfer was denied on the grounds that the land belonged to the Bhoodan Board.
Earlier, Navin Mittal had conducted a preliminary inquiry after serving notices to all parties involved, including the buyers. A memo filed before the court on behalf of the government confirmed the appointment of the IAS committee and sought three weeks to complete its inquiry. The court adjourned the matter to April 24.
