Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena (TRS) president Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing it of corruption, unethical politics and attempting to weaken her party.
Addressing the media, Kavitha alleged that the BRS had accumulated Rs.1,400 crore of corrupt money and said the amount should be distributed to the families of Telangana martyrs. She asserted that she would never return to the BRS and dismissed as "false propaganda" reports claiming that she was planning to rejoin the party.
She alleged that although BRS leaders publicly claimed they were not worried about her party, they had filed more than 1,000 complaints with the Election Commission to obstruct its activities.
She further claimed that efforts were being made to prevent her from securing the "TRS" name and alleged that the BRS was working in coordination with the Congress and the BJP to stop her public campaigns from reaching the people.
Questioning the party's ethics and principles, Kavitha accused BRS social media supporters of making abusive and derogatory comments against women. Warning those involved in online abuse, she said her party would not tolerate such behaviour and responded with strong remarks against those targeting her supporters.
Targeting senior BRS leaders, Kavitha alleged that party working president K. T. Rama Rao had granted illegal permissions to a construction company owned by his friend through a quid pro quo arrangement.
She also accused T. Harish Rao of being at the centre of the alleged corruption in the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Project and questioned why the BRS continued to project him despite the allegations.
Claiming that the BRS had no political future, Kavitha said the party was already facing corruption allegations against its leadership and questioned reports that its chief was seeking a ministerial position for just three months.
On the Kaleshwaram project, she said the Chief Minister had not stopped the lifting of water, but alleged that the project was not functioning because of the BRS government's failures. She claimed that constructing a half-kilometre-long rock embankment would enable water to be lifted effectively.
