HYDRAA's DRF Team Rescues Injured Auto Driver

An iron railing rod pierced through the right leg of the 40-year-old driver Balle Bangarayya: Reports

HYDERABAD: HYDRAA’s Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams on Saturday saved the life of an autorickshaw driver who was seriously injured in a road accident near Mount Opera on Saturday. The tri-wheeler carrying baskets of fruit from the Batasingaram market towards the city was reportedly hit from behind by a car. The impact caused the auto to lose control and crash into a roadside footpath railing.

An iron railing rod pierced through the right leg of the 40-year-old driver Balle Bangarayya. His daughter, who was travelling alongside him, escaped without any injuries, although the rod passed very close to her.

While the driver was in severe pain, his daughter was distressed and crying for help and local passersby contacted ambulance services and the HYDRAA control room seeking emergency assistance. According to officials, the call was received at around 10.40 am.

Two DRF teams, which were posted nearby, were immediately dispatched from different directions and reached the accident site within 15 minutes.

Rescue personnel ensured that the iron rod remained stable to avoid causing further injury, and using a grinding machine, skilfully cut the railing rod and safely freed the injured driver.

He was then handed over to 108 ambulance personnel and shifted to hospital for treatment.

Officials said that the careful handling of the rescue operation helped prevent excessive blood loss and reduced the risk of further complications.

Recognising their efforts, HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath felicitated the eight DRF personnel involved in the rescue.

He presented them with cash rewards and appreciation certificates for their dedication and professionalism.
